President Donald Trump posted — and later removed — a clip on Truth Social that looks like a fake Fox News segment featuring Lara Trump announcing a supposed “world’s first MedBed hospital” and a national MedBed card system. Fox News told The Verge the segment “never aired on Fox News Channel or any other Fox News Media platforms.”

The video appears to be entirely AI-generated, including a shot of Trump speaking in the Oval Office. Observers noted telltale signs of synthetic media (one quip in the piece: the president’s ability to stay precisely on script). The clip offered no context or explanation for the announcement.

“MedBeds” are a long-running internet conspiracy — a mythical device alleged to cure ailments from asthma to missing limbs and cancer, often framed as technology hidden from the public by “Big Pharma.” Many of Trump’s followers acknowledged the clip looked AI-generated, but some still interpreted it as confirmation that MedBeds exist.

With the post removed and no clear explanation from the White House, the motive behind sharing the clip is uncertain. The Verge updated the story on September 28 to add Fox News’s comment that the segment never aired.
