OpenAI Unveils ChatGPT Pulse Personalized Briefings

At OpenAI’s DevDay in San Francisco, CEO Sam Altman said ChatGPT Pulse — a new daily, personalized briefing built into ChatGPT — is his “favorite feature we’ve launched in a long time.” Pulse learns from a user’s transcripts and connected apps (calendar, email, etc.), researches topics overnight, and delivers a morning “pulse” with tailored content: everything from workout plans and language lessons to news roundups or dinner recommendations.

Executives acknowledged the company is discussing advertising possibilities for Pulse, but Altman told reporters there are “no current plans” to introduce ads in the feature. He also noted he likes Instagram ads and didn’t rule out showing relevant ads inside Pulse at some point, leaving the door open to ad formats that feel contextual.

OpenAI originally planned a broader rollout for Pulse, but the feature’s high compute demands meant it launched for Pro users first. Altman emphasized the company’s cautious stance on ads, saying they’ll only consider approaches that genuinely help users.
