07 Oct 2025- OpenAI launched a ChatGPT SDK letting third‑party apps integrate into conversations—demoed with Canva and Zillow. Early partners include Booking, Coursera, Expedia, Figma, Spotify; SDK preview available.
OpenAI is opening ChatGPT to third‑party apps via a new ChatGPT SDK: developers can build apps that plug into a ChatGPT conversation so the model can call those services to help complete tasks while providing context and follow‑ups. In demos at DevDay, OpenAI showed Canva generating a poster inside ChatGPT (and then producing a pitch deck from that poster) and Zillow returning an interactive map of homes for sale that the presenter could query further.
The first partners available inside ChatGPT today include Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Expedia, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow. OpenAI says more apps (DoorDash, OpenTable, Target, Uber) will be added “in the weeks ahead.” The company has already begun letting ChatGPT users make purchases — for example, buying on Etsy through the chatbot — as part of integrating the assistant with web services.
Developers can access the SDK in preview immediately; later this year OpenAI will accept app submissions for review and publication and plans to offer a directory for users to browse apps. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the company will share guidance about monetization “soon.”
