Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors the company plans to “add yet another huge corpus of content” to its recommendation systems as AI “makes it easier to create and remix” material that gets shared online. He framed social media as having gone through two eras — friend-and-follow content, then creator content — and signaled AI will play a major role in what comes next.
Zuckerberg argued systems that “deeply understand” AI‑generated posts and can “show you the right content” will become “increasingly valuable.” Meta has already been embedding AI tools across its apps and is testing dedicated AI social apps, positioning recommendation engines to surface more AI‑created material.
Meta CFO Susan Li said users have generated over 20 billion images inside the company’s Vibes app, which serves a feed of AI‑generated videos — a format compared in the article to OpenAI’s Sora. Zuckerberg called Vibes “an example of a new content type enabled by AI,” and suggested there are “more opportunities to build many more novel types of content ahead.”
On the earnings front, Meta reported $51.24 billion in revenue for the quarter (up 26% year over year) and took a one‑time $15.93 billion tax charge the article links to as associated with President Donald Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill.
