Gemini Deep Research Integrates Gmail, Drive, Chat

Google has expanded Gemini Deep Research so the agent can draw on your personal Workspace content — Gmail, Drive, and Google Chat — when compiling research reports. According to Google’s announcement, Deep Research starts by outlining a multi-step plan, runs web searches, and then synthesizes findings into a report you can refine, export to a Google Doc, or turn into an AI-generated podcast.

When you pick “deep research” from Gemini’s prompt bar, you can choose which sources to include: standard Google Search, Gmail, Drive (documents, slides, sheets, PDFs), and Chat. That lets Gemini cross-reference public web information with your internal materials — for example, brainstorming docs, email threads, project plans, comparison spreadsheets, or team chats — to produce market analyses or competitor reports that incorporate context from your files and conversations.

The feature is initially rolling out on desktop, with Google saying mobile availability will follow in the coming days. Google characterized the Workspace integration as one of the most-requested additions to Deep Research, positioning it as a purpose-built, agentic workflow for producing in-depth research rather than one-off answers.
