Apple is reportedly developing an AI-powered wearable “pin” about the size of an AirTag that’s designed to pick up a wearer’s surroundings using onboard cameras and microphones, according to a report from The Information. The tip says the device will be thin, flat, and circular with an aluminum-and-glass housing. It’s expected to include a standard lens plus a wide-angle lens, three microphones, a speaker, a physical side button, and support for wireless charging. The project is described as being in early stages and could, per The Information, arrive as soon as 2027.
The report places the device in a broader shift toward AI-first wearables: Apple is also partnering with Google to make Siri more personalized, while Bloomberg has reported Apple plans to roll out a chatbot-style Siri across iPhone, iPad, and Mac later in the year. The Verge notes other companies have tried standalone AI wearables with mixed results — Humane shut down its AI Pin after disappointing performance — and that OpenAI and Jony Ive are reportedly working on an AI device whose details remain limited.
