27 Jan 2026- Anthropic’s Claude adds MCP Apps: interactive in‑chat third‑party app interfaces (Figma, Slack, Canva, Asana, etc.), powered by Model Context Protocol, enabling embedded visual workflows without leaving chat.
Anthropic has added an “MCP Apps” extension to Claude that embeds interactive apps directly inside the chat. Instead of sending and receiving only text about tools, users can open interfaces for third‑party apps inside a Claude conversation to see, explore, and refine results visually — for example drafting and previewing Slack messages or editing slides without switching tabs.
A number of work apps are already supported: Asana, Figma, Slack, Canva, Hex, Amplitude, monday.com, Clay, and Box; Anthropic says Salesforce tools (Data 360, Agentforce, Customer 360) are coming soon. The integrations let you customize Canva decks in real time, build interactive charts, format Slack messages inside chat, and manage projects from Claude’s UI rather than having the assistant only return text summaries or actions.
Anthropic credits the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for enabling in‑chat apps. MCP Apps lets any MCP server deliver interactive interfaces within any supporting AI product — not just Claude — and MCP has been adopted broadly (OpenAI, Google, Microsoft) and was donated to the Linux Foundation. Anthropic also helped establish the Agentic AI Foundation to advance open‑source agentic AI. The move pushes conversational platforms toward “everything app” experiences like mini‑apps in messaging platforms and the app ecosystems other AI players have begun building.
