07 Nov 2025- Amazon launches Kindle Translate beta for KDP authors, AI-powered ebook translations (English↔Spanish, German→English), previews, separate pricing, labeled editions, eligible for KDP Select and Kindle Unlimited.
Amazon has begun rolling out Kindle Translate, an AI-powered ebook translation tool in beta to a limited group of Kindle Direct Publishing authors. In its initial form the service can translate between English and Spanish and can translate from German to English; Amazon says the feature is offered at no extra cost to participating authors.
Authors using Kindle Translate can pick target languages, preview translated manuscripts before publishing, and set separate list prices for each translated edition. Amazon says “all translations are automatically evaluated for accuracy before publication.” Titles translated with the tool will carry a “Kindle Translate” label so readers know the edition was produced with the AI service.
Amazon frames the tool as a way to expand multilingual availability on its store — it notes that currently less than 5% of listings appear in multiple languages — and translated ebooks will be eligible for KDP Select and Kindle Unlimited. The rollout follows Audible’s recent introduction of an AI-based multi-lingual narration feature for audiobooks.
